A Birthday Celebration: Odysseo

I'm so excited I don't even know if I can write this post. WHAT.

So for Mom's birthday, I got us two last minute tickets to see Odysseo, a show performed by Cavalia. The show was FANTASTIC. It combined two of my favorite things: horses and dance. I don't have the words to describe how amazing it was. Some of the things these riders were able to do with the horses, combined with the acrobatics and the aerialists was SO COOL. The live music, the horsemanship aspects, the artistic elements, the sets. UNREAL. We couldn't take pictures of the performance, and I don't think I even thought about it because I was so engrossed in everything that was going on. But here are some pictures I took before hand and a video from their website.

I want this painting.

This is one of their promo videos. Watch it all the way through. SO COOL.

Cavalia is in Denver through Sunday October 19, and I HIGHLY recommend you go. And spring for the VIP tickets if you can- we didn't and I regret it! The VIP tickets get you a backstage tour and the ability for a Q&A depending on the day, I think.

200 Years and Still Lookin' Good

So, February 27th, Colby celebrated the 200th anniversary of the signing of the charter- aka a birthday. Classes were cancelled and a HUGE celebration was planned. From student presentations and faculty discussions, to a giant birthday cake and an iceless skating rink inside, the day was a huge success!

Photo booth fun.

Yes, that's the birthday cake- a replica of the library.

And finally, a letter from Barack Obama congratulating the school and Bro on an amazing 200 years, and wishing us 200 more. Thanks Obama!

These are only a few of the pictures I have of the day- there was so much going on that I couldn't put my camera down! But, I just wanted to say how blessed I am to be a student at Colby in this moment. Being part of something as big and special as a celebration of the school and education was more than just fun, it was eye-opening. We really do have a great community here, and it came out in full force yesterday. Thank you Colby, for letting me spend 4 years here. Happy birthday, and here's to 200 more!

A Texas Birthday

Last weekend was my friend Shireen's 22nd birthday (woo!). She's from Texas, so naturally she wanted to go out to eat at the Texas Roadhouse in Augusta for peanuts and ribs. This is what ensued:

(side note: for the occasion, the boys did not shave their "moustaches". This is the result...)

YeeHaw to the birthday girl!

So, Texas Roadhouse, thanks for putting up with all 11 of us. We know we were a tough crowd, but you did us well. And Happy Birthday Shireen!!!
