Spring is My Favorite Season

It's snowing again... Just when we all assumed that maybe spring was actually here. Just kidding, have another foot and a half of snow! But, in the spirit of the first day of spring, here is a list:

10 Things
I love about SPRING

1. Green grass

2. Chirping birds

3. Sunshine

4. Blue skies

5. Thinking that 50 degrees is warm enough for a t-shirt and shorts

6. Flowers and little buds on trees

7. Freak snow storms that melt away the next day (only a few though)

8. Pastel colors

9. Sunlight at 6:30 pm

10. All the birthdays

Happy First Day of Spring, everyone!

elephant JANE comes to town

Remember this post? Well, let me tell you, I've been dancing up a storm this semester, and it's been a BLAST! I'm still not very good at it, but I'm getting better. Anyway, each spring the Colby Dance department brings in a guest choreographer to teach students a full dance in one week (we had like 30 hours of rehearsal in one week...) and then the choreographer brings up his/her company and the students perform with them! So, this year they brought a Colby Alum, Heidi Henderson and it was so fantastic getting to know her.

Here are some pictures if you're curious.

Milestones

So, I've hit a few pretty significant milestones recently (and am about to hit a huge one *graduation*), and this post is one of those milestones. It's my 100th post on the blog! Woo hoo! I guess I'm going to spend some time in this post discussing why I'm blogging and what it means to me, so bear with me.

As you all know, I started the blog to share my study abroad experience with friends and family back home. However, over the last year it has morphed into documenting life in general for my own purposes. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE sharing things with other people, but this blog is also a way for me to remember. I hope that in many years I will look back on it and really appreciate what I've done, and cherish the memories that I post here.

Anyway, thank you all for sticking with me for these first 100, and hopefully there will be 100 more!

Basketball and the Old Port

Last Friday night, a bunch of us (like 3 busses full) went down to Portland for dinner, a Red Claws game, and a night in the Old Port. Fun times ensued. Here are some (blurry) pictures to prove that it actually happened.

A pizza clock!

Ethan giving Fab Melo, his hero, a high five. If only it weren't blurry!

Our new friend.

Sleeping twins.

It was a great evening! I just wish my phone's camera had a better quality so these pictures were clearer. Oh well.

200 Years and Still Lookin' Good

So, February 27th, Colby celebrated the 200th anniversary of the signing of the charter- aka a birthday. Classes were cancelled and a HUGE celebration was planned. From student presentations and faculty discussions, to a giant birthday cake and an iceless skating rink inside, the day was a huge success!

Photo booth fun.

Yes, that's the birthday cake- a replica of the library.

And finally, a letter from Barack Obama congratulating the school and Bro on an amazing 200 years, and wishing us 200 more. Thanks Obama!

These are only a few of the pictures I have of the day- there was so much going on that I couldn't put my camera down! But, I just wanted to say how blessed I am to be a student at Colby in this moment. Being part of something as big and special as a celebration of the school and education was more than just fun, it was eye-opening. We really do have a great community here, and it came out in full force yesterday. Thank you Colby, for letting me spend 4 years here. Happy birthday, and here's to 200 more!
