4437

Well, part of growing up is moving out, right? These last few weeks have been just that- moving out of my childhood home. My mom recently up and moved to a smaller, more manageable house. I love the new house and am so excited to see it!

That being said, it's hard letting go of the house that I grew up in, of the street where I learned to ride my bike, of the trees I learned to climb. But that's ok. I'm going to keep the memories and make new ones in the new house.

Goodbye, 4437. You sure were good to us, and you will be just as good to the new family that gets to call you home.

Spring Break

Sorry I haven't posted in a while- I was on break! I went home for the week to help clean and pack up the house (mom is moving!), so here's what ensued:

Furniture shopping. Peter would love the huge orange couch...

The first robin of the season!

Typical family time. But now I have just less than 8 weeks until graduation, then I'm off to my next adventure!

Chalkboard Wall

The other crafty project this semester was painting a wall in our room: yes, it is against the school rules, but who can resist a chalkboard wall?

So Gabby and I went to Home Depot and bought the necessary items, and a few days later we had a functional chalkboard wall in our room! We use it to leave each other notes and it is home of our "Chore Chart" for the week.

Look at those edges! Not bad for first timers.

Gabby wanted to put on "normal" clothes to show off the wall. Haha.

We recently got colored chalk, so it's been an exciting week.

Paper Globes

Let me tell you, my room at college is so much more decorated this year than it was my first year! In a good way, don't worry. One addition that seems to have made it's way in these last 2 semesters are these paper globes. They're really easy, and really fun to do! They globes themselves are also pretty strong, and I hang them from my ceiling with a little bit of thread and some tape.  You don't need anything to make the paper stick together, the pieces fit together like a puzzle!

An individual piece

Fitting them together

One done!

Hanging from the ceiling.

So that's it! A little silly I guess, but pretty cool once they're done. I just wish I could hang a light of some sort inside of them. Probably a fire hazard, so I won't even try.

Summer Construction- Part 2

Another brief construction project that we took on this summer was building a little indoor pen for the dogs. In the winter, we don't want Cleo and Charlie to freeze outside all day, so we built a nifty little dog house-thing in the garage to at least protect them a little bit. I didn't take as many pictures this time, sorry. But know that it was my first almost-successful solo trip to Home Depot. Hey, I'm working on it.

Charlie better be one happy dog this winter...

Summer Construction- Part 1

Another significant chunk of this summer was taken up by a few construction (destruction?) projects around the house. This is our endeavor of tearing down the clubhouse... I learned how to use a sawzall! And other power tools. But enjoy the pictures!

We killed about 1,000 wasps in the process, and at one point I thought I had been bitten by a Black Widow, but we made it out alive, with all our fingers, and a lot of debris. Success!
